Anyways… let´s first of all talk about the “Nook Color”…
Barnes & Nobles presented the Nook Color in November 2010 and made some huge changes when comparing it to the older version of the nook.
Key Facts:
A VivedView Color Touch Screen, over 2 Million downloadable books, many new apps added to their app store, a full featured email “on the go” system, a web browser with Flash Player ( this is “freaking” huge by the way because even iPad didn´t manage to get this onto their devices) , inbuilt WiFi + Music Player, upto 32 Gb of external memory and much much more…
Just looking at those features made me want to have it instantly! Therefor I bought it directly on Amazon.com for about 295$ (really a bargain if you ask me) and tested if it really fulfills its purposes, which is => Impressing ME. And guess what… it totally blew me away and I will tell you why…
Already while unboxing the Nook Color I was pretty astonished how cool you could take the Nook Color out of the box, just pull it out nice and easy ( of course not essential but I personally love it when anything I buy is wrapped up nicely 
)
Little Note: I wrapped up the comparison of the nook vs kindle, so that you won´t need to read 6 pages of content to know whether you should buy the Nook or the Kindle… therefor I kept it short and picked out the single points I liked and also didn´t like and I will give you my overall purchasing tendency a the bottom of this blog post!
The first thing I recognized is that it´s LIGHT. To be honest much lighter than I expected… I turned the device on and played around for some time ( I navigated a lot initially and customized my settings and all that stuff).
But before I talk about the positive things the Nook Color has to offer I will go shortly over the NEGATIVE things…
Nook Color Cons
1. The Nook Color has no inbuilt 3G… that basically means that will only have access to the internet within your house or at places where you can get a WiFi connection
2. The touch response is still not quite at it´s peak… the iPad is just SO much better if you compare the two
3. No animations while reading and flipping through the pages (page turn effects and all those things)
4. Video quality is not really the best for some reason… seems all pixely (don´t know if that is a word or not
5. The Wifi Function lacked sometimes … can become really annoying after some time!
Ok now that I have talked about the stuff that I was not so happy with after using it for some time, let me talk about the stuff I consider to be very good….
Nook Color Pros
1. The 7-inch display is just the PERFECT size for reading ebooks… truly more than enough
2. The LCD display is has a really nice resolution and it just fells awesome looking at the brilliance of the screen itself
3. NO EYESTRAIN… I repeat No Eyestrain! Even though it is a LCD display ( known for causing eye strain after a few hours) it completely annihilates this issue! This might be the single most powerful reason why I love this device because it fulfills its purpose to the “T”
4. You need no “guide” or anything on how to use the device… it´s pretty self-explanatory
5. Full, free access to the entire electronic B&N catalog while camped at their stores
6. Many applications=> Web Browser, inbuilt music player, games and a lot more…
7. The LendMe feature for borrowing and requesting books is a MUST-Have… especially if you got friend and family who have the Nook Color

Nook Vs Kindle => Now…The Kindle DX
Ok, now let´s talk about the Kindle DX and see what the new features are…
Key Facts:
50% better contrast than the previous model, 9.7 inch screen (pretty large), no glare when reading in sunlight (definitly a biggie), 1/3 of an inch thick, download books within 60 seconds or less, free 3G Access (extremely generous if you ask me), up to 3 weeks usage before charinging the battery, storage for up to 3500 books, text-to-speech function, autorotating screen and so much more…
Just by looking at these feature you get the feeling that it´s VALUE must be immense!
As I said earlier I bought this Kindle about 2 month before I purchased the Nook Color (I know… I am crazy for gadgets and the like) and it the device was worth every penny up until now actually!
So let´s cut to the meat of what I think is good and what is not really that good!
Let´s start off with the NEGATIVE Stuff
1. A bit more pricey => (379$) ; Nook Color is only 250$ on the other hand
2. No external storage
3. No COLOR => it´s e-ink and of course e-ink doesn´t support color (but there is a huge advantage in this too… will mention it in the pro section)
4. No word highlighting in PDF mode (not too terrible but would be nice if they had it)
5. Keyboard keys are a little bit too small for my fingers
6. Feels kinda heavy when holding it for some time
7. Navigation is certainly not one of it´s strength… 
Here are the Pro´s
1. PDF quality is just BLASTING
2. Screen quality in general is improved hugely when comparing it to the Kindle Wi-Fi version (yes, I own this one too)
3. E-Ink = Perfection of eliminating eye strain entirely, although it doesn´t have color, it still delivers the BEST reading experience I have ever had
4. Font sizes changed be changed easily and even a freaking mole can read the words when you increase the font size
5. Auto-Rotating Screen => nice addition nook vs kindle
6. Text-To-Speech is the tip of the iceberg! Seriously… do you have any idea how relaxing it can be to just close your eyes out on the beach and the Kindle is gonna read out all the words to you? That means you won´t even need to read your ebooks anymore actually
7. The battery life can survive for quite some time… I have to charge it once every 2 weeks on average
Ok now that I have presented the con´s and pro´s of both the Kindle Dx and the Nook Color I will give you my thoughts on which one of the two you should be buying…
My Verdict
Let’s be frank: the most important difference between the Nook Vs Kindle is the price. I know that many will base their decision mostly on the “price” at first and therefor I will absolutely recommend the Nook Color to anyone. The features are in many instances the same (the Nook is more a tablet to be honest but it´s purposes is to read ebooks). Overall, it impresses me more than the Kindle DX does. the nook vs the kindle
Let me explain it this way… The Kindle DX is for die-hard reading fans, people who can literally hang hours upon hours infront their device without moving a muscle. The Nook Color fulfills its purpose perfectly but due to it´s much shorter battery life you will be charging it more often if you are an ebook junkie. But since the majority of us enjoy reading books every once in a while, the Nook Color is definitely your choice! nook color vs kindle
